DestinE Data Lake Edge Services
As part of your registration for the DestinE Data Lake Edge Services (DestinE Edge Services), you are required to submit the following information: first name, last name, user category, academia category, EU company registration number, EU legal entity ID (optional), name of your affiliated organisation, organisation address including country, email address, project information, planned activities and information regarding requested DestinE Edge Services.
EUMETSAT will use this information to verify your eligibility for the DestinE Edge Services and facilitate your access, with the objective of ensuring your successful registration and use of the DestinE Edge Services.
All personal data is collected and processed by EUMETSAT in accordance with its Personal Data Protection Policy, which provides protections equivalent to those set out in the GDPR (EU 2016/679). To ensure a smooth user experience, EUMETSAT has contracted CloudFerro SA (registered office in Warsaw (00-511) at ul. Nowogrodzka 31) to assist in processing activities. CloudFerro SA is GDPR compliant and offers industry-standard controls to protect your data. Your personal data will be stored on servers located within the European Economic Area (EEA). Designated teams from EUMETSAT and CloudFerro SA will have access to your personal data as needed to facilitate a smooth DestinE Edge Services experience. This data will be retained for as long as you have permission to use theDestinE Edge Services and for two years after you either close your account or EUMETSAT closes it following an extended period of inactivity.
EUMETSAT will only share your personal data with third parties to facilitate access to DestinE Edge Services, provided such third parties have comparable safeguards for the protection of personal data.
Please be aware that management of your DestinE Edge Services account may render necessary the communication of your personal data to the European Commission. In such instances, the European Commission will provide you with a separate privacy statement detailing how your data will be protected and the specific measures in place to ensure its security. Notwithstanding the foregoing, EUMETSAT reserves the right to share certain aggregated statistics and information with the European Commission that do not, on their own, constitute personal data. This may include details such as user categories, academic affiliations, geographic distribution, EU company registration numbers, or EU legal entity IDs.
EUMETSAT will use your data to send you relevant updates and information about the DestinE Edge Services you use, including news on planned service enhancements. You can exercise your right to opt-out of such communications by contacting destine-datalake@eumetsat.int, who will remove you from the distribution list.
Can I exercise my data subject rights?
In accordance with EUMETSAT’s Personal Data Protection Policy, you have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data, or object to its processing. Requests should be submitted to the EUMETSAT Data Protection Officer (DPO) by emailing dataprotectionofficer@eumetsat.int, with the DestinE team in copy (destine-datalake@eumetsat.int).
EUMETSAT will promptly communicate the extent to which your request can be satisfied and provide clear reasons for either granting or refusing it. If you request the deletion of your personal data, you acknowledge that your access to DestinE Edge Services can no longer be maintained and use of DestinE Services will be denied.
Can I seek legal recourse or submit a complaint in case of a data protection incident?
If you become aware of a data protection incident, please contact the EUMETSAT DPO by emailing dataprotectionofficer@eumetsat.int. EUMETSAT will investigate any data breach to determine whether it is attributable to EUMETSAT or if it resulted from a technical issue on the part of CloudFerro. Based on the findings, EUMETSAT will inform you of the next steps being taken to address the breach.
In the event that you wish to submit a complaint, you must comply with the Rules of Procedure of Personal Data Protection Complaints and Appeals as set forth in the Annex of EUMETSAT’s Personal Data Protection Policy.
If a dispute cannot be resolved at the level of the EUMETSAT Director-General, you have the right to lodge an appeal with the EUMETSAT Personal Data Protection Supervisory Authority. This authority is fully independent in the exercise of its duties and replaces oversight by any national or European data protection authorities.

EUMETSAT reserves the right to update this privacy notice at any time, including in response to changes to related terms and conditions underpinning DestinE. Any updates will be made in compliance with applicable data protection laws and will not reduce any rights granted to you under this notice.
